COGECO Diffusion expands its talk network
Montréal, June 20, 2012 – Cogeco Diffusion today announced it is expanding its talk-
radio network. Stations 106.9 FM in the Mauricie region, 107.7 FM in Estrie and
104.7 FM in Outaouais will be changing from a hybrid music-talk format to all-talk.
The change, which takes effect August 20, will see the stations maintain their
commitment to local opinion, news and sports.
“We believe that these talk-format stations will become a genuine alternative to those
currently existing,” said Richard Lachance, Senior Vice-President, Cogeco Diffusion,
adding: “98.5 FM in Montréal and FM 93 in Québec City are successful, and the key to
their success is strong local roots. Our wish is for each station to reflect the reality of its
respective market.”
The format shift comes amid growing enthusiasm for talk radio in Québec, which is in the
midst of effervescent social change. Cogeco Diffusion believes that by delivering more
information, opinion and commentary, these stations will be better able to meet the
needs of the communities they serve.
